New Quote of Rob from Opening Night for LA Dance Project

Like any great dancer, Benjamin Millepied knows how to make an entrance. For the world premiere of his new collaborative, L.A. Dance Project, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall Saturday night, the former New York City Ballet principal choreographed a lavish evening (together with cohost Van Cleef & Arpels) complete with an intimate VIP dinner, a boisterous after-party, and even a Robert Pattinson sighting. “I live near Natalie [Portman] and she invited me to come,” said the Twilight star, who chatted with fellow guests Dita Von Teese and Jaime King and gamely posed for fan photos.

It was quite the surprise when “Cosmopolis” star Robert Pattinson showed up at the opening night performance of Benjamin Millepied’s L.A. Dance Project company on Saturday night, held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
Van Cleef & Arpels sponsored the dinner.
The 26-year-old British actor posed with actress Natalie Portman on the printed carpet while clad head-to-toe in Gucci — his go to brand. Robert wore a “Heritage” suit in dark ink grey with peaked lapels, 2-button closure and a ticket pocket. He paired the suit with a black button-down cotton shirt and shiny black leather dress shoes.

Before a crowd that included Dita von Teese, Chris Evans, philanthropist Wallis Annenberg and Robert Pattinson (drinking Coronas and using an electronic cigarette), Millepied's L.A. Dance Project company performed three pieces, including a new piece by Millepied (with costumes by Rodarte) and a dark, shadowy work by the late legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham that had not been performed in 50 years.

Portman and Millepied, plus von Teese, Pattinson and around 120 other guests, attended a pre-performance dinner at Disney Concert Hall sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels and then all hung out for the after-party in an event area off the main lobby. Pattinson -- who is friends with Portman and Millepied and is said to live near them in Los Angeles -- told THR that he loved the performances but can't see himself ever dancing in a film: "I was inspired but I know my limitations." If he'd had to dance for a role, "I wouldn't have gotten it."
